Travel

The workshop will be held in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, Galway (see below for map)

Galway airport
There are direct flights to Galway airport from a limited number of cities: e.g. London, Edinburgh, Manchester. Some low fares are available by advance booking with Aer Arann

Dublin airport
Ireland’s main airport. Well served by public transport.

Coach transfers
The most convenient way to get from Dublin airport to Galway is by coaches which go directly from Dublin airport to Galway (~3 hours). Two companies www.gobus.ie and citylink.ie provide high quality coaches complete with wi-fi onboard. Their non-stop service will bring you directly from the airport to the coach station in Galway town centre. From there it is a short taxi ride or 20-30 minute walk to Salthill.

Train transfers
Dublin airport is not served by a rail link so you would need to transfer to Heuston Station in Dublin’s city centre by bus (www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/Airport-Services) or taxi. There are regular trains to Galway from Heuston station (www.irishrail.ie), but this option is probably less convenient than direct coach transfer from Dublin Airport to Galway.

Shannon airport
Closer to Galway but less well served by public transport than Dublin airport. Coaches (www.buseireann.ie) depart hourly from Shannon airport and take less than 2 hours to Galway. Timetable: http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1272287885-51.pdf.

Car rental
Car rental facilities are available at both Dublin and Shannon airports (www.holidayautos.ie is a website that searches all possible rental companies and generally gives good prices). Galway is served by excellent roads from both Dublin and Shannon.
